I’ve been trained in programming long before the internet. But I have not kept up with the current languages.
I have a delimited text file that lists addresses of real estate properties.
I want to be able to write a program where I can input that data to search various web sites and obtain the market resale values for these properties. Then I want to import that data to my computer and append it to my delimited text file.

What is the most efficient way to accomplish this?
I should have included that I have plenty of time, not money, to accomplish this. I’m unemployed now.

The largest new growth area for people all over the world who are trying to develop businesses at home is Internet based. Nevertheless, for those people with the knowledge, skill and tools, they can set up profitable home businesses based on internet marketing techniques. Getting started is not difficult. Entrepreneurs require a place to work, a relatively high end computer, a high speed communications line and the requisite applications running on their computer. There are a host of sites that provide training and opportunities for work as well as information booklets, PDF files, software applications you can purchase as well as blogs that you can participate on to learn more.

A word of caution is in order. As you investigate all of the opportunities that exist, there are many that for a small fee will send you various get rich quick schemes. Treat these with caution and go by word of mouth before you make decisions on these. A lot of money can be spent before you know it. Next, image is everything and customers will leave in droves if they are not satisfied with your service, quality or support. Quality content is paramount. Web sites that provide little in the way of valuable content to the reader will be bypassed. If you are marketing your services or products by the internet using some means of advertising, banner ads etc, make sure you follow through with excellent customer service and quality.

While we have only briefly covered a number of issues associated with Internet marketing in this short article, paying attention to these few simple guidelines will assist anyone starting out to be successful in their businesses.

We are new at hiring and working with sales executives/reps, so we would appreciate sales pros’ feedback on the compensation plan draft we’ve researched and developed. Please, provide full critique if possible. Here it goes:

Industry: Internet Marketing, product: selling site memberships and access to training resources, sale closing time: 1-2 weeks, products price range: $200 – $2,000

1. The model would be draw vs. commissions + bonuses for desired sales behavior

2. Sales person would get 30% on reaching target sales amount

3. Sales person would have to hit $7,500 (50%) target in sales first month, and $15,000 (100%) in the second and further months to earn 30% commissions

4. This target would mean selling around 10-15 memberships a month

5. There are bonuses like, increased % (to 50%) on reaching $25,000 in sales, $2,000 bonus on 3 consecutive months of reaching or exceeding the targets.

6. The draw against commissions would be $2,000/mo

7. If the person doesn’t reach targets after 2 months or owes the company more than $4,000 (2 draws), he/she is out of the team

It sounds like a complete and decent compensation plan. The one change i would make is to eliminate the "draw". That is to provide support for a salesman’s family during the early days when no money is flowing in. But the draw always tends to attract the sales people who are not 100% confident of their ability. You want them to be 100% committed and you can only do that with 100% commissions. No base pay and no draw. Only the winners survive.

I’ve been in sales and Direct Mail Marketing for a pizza chain and then car dealerships for the last couple years. I am now a stay at home Dad trying to find a new career. I realize how valuable on-line marketing experience can be from my other position, dealing with dealerships who are choosing to only utilize internet advertising while cutting off radio, tv etc. I’m just not sure where to begin. First of all, congrats on being a stay at home dad. Most of us men can’t or won’t do it. I’m not a stay at home dad, but I spend more time with my kids than most stay at home moms do.

Internet sales and marketing is a tough business. With search engines changing the rules all of the time, ie Google, it makes it nearly impossible to stay on top. Let’s not even talk about the cost.

There is a relatively new approach called attraction marketing. Attraction marketing is basically getting people to chase you down. It’s opposite from the traditional marketing approach. You don’t bombard people with a message until it sticks. You learn to position yourself so that individuals looking for your skills, knowledge, or products will come seeking you out.

There are a number of companies that teach this approach. I use Renegade University. I highly recommend what they teach. They do offer a trial period for free.

Let me ask you a very important question. Are you still struggling with your internet business? The reason that I ask this is that many adverts on the internet do not give you an accurate picture of what is necessary to succeed online.

Let me give you my own personal story as this will clearly put things in perspective for you. I was working in a very good job and then one day I came across an internet marketing course. At this point I was investigating franchises and an internet business appealed a lot more to me because you had the freedom to work from home.
I have not really found this to be difficult in comparison to other businesses, but the learning curve is very steep. The first skill I learnt was to build and generate traffic to my websites. Unfortunately, I could not monetize my websites. The second skill I learnt was to choose a profitable niche market. This can make or break your business. This is an acquired skill and occasionally I may still make the mistake where I cannot monetize a website. However, if this does happen then I immediately abandon the idea.
Finally, the last two steps that you need to master are list building and copywriting. These are acquired skills that you will master over time. It is almost like going to gym and doing weight training. The more you go the heavier the weights that you can pick up.
Kids today will not react well to reduced allowances or fewer new computer games – wise parents will be all over the Internet looking for new activities to keep their kids at bay.
